Publications
Publications collect AAPI's written analysis in three forms. Legislative Briefs track and verify state legislation bearing on AI status and governance, and distinguish AI-specific statutes from omnibus personhood bans and chatbot disclosure laws that are often wrongly conflated in press coverage. Evidence Briefs examine specific empirical findings — interpretability results, multi-agent studies, and related work — and assess what each does and does not show about the capacities relevant to moral status, holding to a firm standard against overclaiming. Notes are shorter analytical pieces: commentary on policy developments, conceptual questions, and the reasoning behind the framework.
